Frontier Airlines adding flights to Washington from Las Vegas

Denver-based Frontier Airlines is on course to transform itself as ultra-low discount carrier on similar lines of Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Air. Taking ahead its objectives, the airline recently announced it will be adding flights to Cleveland and Washington D.C. from Las Vegas. The airline indicated that it will begin its new services in September this year.

Frontier Airlines said that it will start operating nonstop flights between Las Vegas and Washington D.C. from September 8, 2014. The airline will conduct four flights every week. The flights will be operated on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. According to the airline, the new flights will depart from Washington D.C.’ Dulles International Airport at 8.20 pm and reach Las Vegas at 10.25 pm. The return flight will depart from Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport at 11.20 pm and arrive at Washington D.C. at 6.45 am the following day.

The airline said that it will begin conducting its flight services to Cleveland starting from September 11, 2014. The flights on Cleveland-Las Vegas route will be operated twice every week. The flights will operate every Thursday and Sunday of the week. Frontier Airlines stated that the flights from Cleveland’s Hopkins International Airport will depart at 7.10 pm and will arrive at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas at 8.35 pm. The return flight will depart from Las Vegas at 11.20 pm and will reach Cleveland at 8.35 am the following day.

The airline has announced introductory low fares on both Las Vegas-Washington D.C. and Las Vegas-Cleveland routes as low as $119* each way. The airline has introduced two-tiered pricing models on these routes. According to Frontier Airlines, the fares are valid for travel in economy class and will include seat selection, carry-on luggage and checked baggage fees. This will also include change fees for rebooking flights. The airline said that its “Classic Plus” pricing is expensive. The Classic Plus fares will be inclusive of one free checked baggage fee. This however doesn’t include change fees or carry-on fees.

The flights on both the routes will be operated with the help of Airbus A320 twin-engine aircrafts configured with a seating capacity of 168 passengers. Frontier Airlines said that the launch of additional flights to Cleveland and Washington D.C. is part of its ambitious expansion plans. The airline had earlier announced the launch of new service to 14 destinations from these cities. Presently, Frontier Airlines is conducting flight operations to 78 cities across the United States.

The airline is currently operating 39 flights every week to Las Vegas thus making it the 12th busiest airline at McCarran International Airport. Frontier Airlines carried 137,000 passengers to/from Las Vegas in Q1 2014.
