Frontier Airlines introducing six new routes from Atlanta

Discount carrier Frontier Airlines recently announced major expansion from Atlanta. The airline said that the number of destinations being currently served from Atlanta would be nearly tripled between February and end of April. The airline has also decided to expand its flight schedule in Cleveland as well.

A spokesperson of Frontier Airlines said that the airline is going to introduce six new routes. With the launch of the new routes, the total number of nonstop destinations to be served from Atlanta will go up to 16. The new routes to be launched by April 30 include Minneapolis/St. Paul, New Orleans, New York, LaGuardia, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Cincinnati. Each of these destinations will be served by one roundtrip flight every day.

Frontier Airlines will be aggressively competing with Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines on the new routes. Media reports said that the competition is likely to be fiercer as four of the six new routes are either focus cities or hubs of Delta Air Lines. These routes include Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York, LaGuardia, Los Angeles and Cincinnati.

Another leading low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines had earlier this February announced that it will be launching nine new nonstop routes from Atlanta. An alert Delta Air Lines is seeing this a significant incursion. With the addition of the new routes, Spirit Airlines will be serving a total of 15 destinations out of Atlanta.

The reports said that Frontier Airlines will be launching new flights to Miami, Indianapolis and Austin from Atlanta effective from March 6. The airline has also indicated that it will add daily nonstop flights to Philadelphia starting from March 13.
