Frontier Airlines to discontinue Delaware-Houston service Oct 2

From next month onwards, passengers traveling between Delaware and Houston will no longer be able to purchase Frontier Airlines plane tickets as the airline has decided to discontinue operations on this route.

The suspending of Frontier Airlines flights on Delaware-Houston route from October 2, 2013 will be a major setback to the people of the region. The airline has cited financial losses due to inadequate business for discontinuing service on the route.

Frontier Airlines had started offering flights between New Castle Airport and Houston in July this year. This was the first commercial air service from Delaware. Apart from Houston, the service also included Chicago-Midway, Orlando and Tampa. But, mounting losses has forced the airline to stop Delaware-Houston service from next month. The airline has however announced the launch of its service to Fort Myers starting from November 16, 2013.

Kate O’Malley, Frontier Airline’s spokeswoman, said that there was a shortfall in business and continuing with the service on the route was not feasible. With the suspension of the service, the airline will henceforth be focusing more on the remaining Wilmington markets, which are producing business close to the airline’s expectations.
