Frontier Airlines to fly nonstop from Miami to Washington Dulles

Frontier Airlines recently announced that it will start offering nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) starting December 21, 2014. The low-cost carrier will operate two flights in a week between the two destinations i.e. on every Thursdays and Sundays. The airline will deploy Airbus A320 on this route offering a total of 168 seats.

Frontier is the only domestic budget airline serving Miami International Airport. It will also offer nonstop flights to Chicago, Denver, New York and Philadelphia from Miami around the same time. The Miami-Washington Dulles service will commence the same day as Miami- Chicago O’ Hare flights, the latter of which will fly daily.

Emilio T. González, Director for Miami-Dade Aviation Department was thrilled to hear the news and commented in a statement that the airline’s decision to offer nonstop flights from Miami to Washington Dulles in D.C area will benefit customers the most. He added that the low-fare service will attract more customers to fly from MIA instead of driving them to Fort Lauderdale International Airport. This new offering will also connect MIA to four cities with 40 weekly departures in the United States.

The Denver- based airline will also start operating daily flights between Miami and Philadelphia starting December 20. On the same day, the airline will also offer twice daily flights between Miami and LaGuardia Airport in New York. The 10 weekly flights between Miami and Denver will replace the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International to Denver nonstop route ending on December 19, 2014.
