Frontier Airlines recently announced it will be launching more routes from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport starting this spring. The airline will start operating flights to four new destinations – San Diego, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Houston and Charlotte.
Media reports said that the three cities – Houston, Charlotte and Minneapolis/St. Paul – are being presently served by other airlines from Cleveland Hopkins. Though the fares are relatively high, but are likely to drop whenever Frontier Airlines begins its service.
According to the reports, the San Diego route is however being seen as the most significant and lucrative. Earlier, Continental Airlines used to serve this route, which was later stopped. Since 2008, San Diego is not being served with nonstop flight from Cleveland.
Cleveland Hopkins airport officials said that San Diego is presently the largest unserved market from here. The two airports – San Diego International Airport and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport – are witnessing just under 100 passengers traveling per day. The launch of new flights between San Diego and Cleveland by Frontier Airlines is therefore going to prove to be quite successful.
The reports while providing the schedule of the new routes from Cleveland Hopkins said that flights to San Diego and Houston are going to be launched starting from May 22 this year. Both the destinations will be served with four-time flights per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Flights to Charlotte will start operating from April 21, with four-time weekly service on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Minneapolis/St. Paul will see the launch of service effective from April 23 with thrice weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
With the launch of four new routes, Frontier Airlines will now be serving Cleveland Hopkins with a total of 17 flights. United Airlines is also operating the same number of flights to be operated by Frontier Airlines. The only difference being that United Airlines operates many daily departures, while Frontier Airlines will be mostly offering weekly services.
