Frontier Airlines to offer widest middle seats on any U.S airline

The middle seat on any aircraft was considered to be among the least favourite so far. But this is all set to be changed now. Leading U.S. low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines has stepped in to transform the air travel with its innovative seat design.

Media reports recently said that the stigma hitherto attached to middle seats on aircrafts is going to be tackled by Frontier Airlines with its innovative seat design in which the middle seats would be larger than the preferred aisle or window seats.

The reports said that the middle seats to be installed by Frontier Airlines would be 19 inch wide, and would be the widest to be offered on any U.S. airline.

Travel experts said that the airline’s game-plan is to prompt the passengers to pick the middle seat because of its width and extra space. According to the experts, the passengers opting for the new middle seats would be in an advantageous position as they would be able to enjoy an extra inch of seat width as compared to the passengers seated adjacent to them. This would also make them feel less comfortable when sitting in the middle seat.

The reports said that Denver-based Frontier Airlines already has a reputation for charging extra fees for carry-on bags and drinks. However, the airline is yet to disclose whether it will be charging extra for the additional space on the new middle seat.

Though Frontier Airlines has claimed its new middle seat to be the widest being currently offered by any other U.S. airline, but there are some drawbacks to the new design. The reports said that the chairs would be less padded and will be offering only 28 inches of legroom, two inches less than what is being presently offered.
