Frontier comes to St. Augustine in May, expected to boost economy

Frontier Airlines is boosting its service at Trenton-Mercer Airport. From May 2, the airline will offer nonstop flights between St. Augustine’s Northeast Florida Regional Airport and Trenton-Mercer Airport.

Thrice-weekly flights between the city pair will mark the return of commercial airline service at Northeast Florida Regional Airport. The airport is all geared up for the same and has completed or is in the process of completing all that needs to be done.

Trenton/Princeton-St. Augustine service will operate every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and will use the service of a 138-seat Airbus 319 aircraft. Flight will leave Trenton at 1130 hours and arrive in St. Augustine at 1335 hours. Return flight will leave at 1415 hours and arrive in Trenton at 1618 hours.

This service is expected to boost the economy of the Nation's Oldest City. Local business owners are excited as this service will bring additional business for them. They all feel it is a good start for St. Augustine and with the first flight completely booked; thousands and thousands of visitors are going to visit the city every year. Tourism in the area will increase, eventually resulting into affordable and comfortable travel options to the city.

Kate O'Malley, spokeswoman for Frontier Airlines said we are keeping a close tab on the air ticket sale and on the market demand. If the business justifies, then we might add more flights to St. Augustine from New Jersey.

Frontier as of now operates 14 nonstop flights out of Trenton-Mercer Airport including Cincinnati, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Chicago-Midway, Cleveland, Tampa, Detroit, Nashville and the latest St. Augustine.
