Frontier to resume seasonal flights to Durango-La Plata County

Leading low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is all set to resume its cheap flights services to Durango-La Plata County Airport from May this year. The airline has decided to end its self-imposed ban on the seasonal service here and begin the flights this summer. Media reports however said that the Denver-based carrier is unlikely to continue with the flight operations on this route for long.

Joe Kerby, Manager of La Plata County Airport, while talking to mediapersons said that Frontier Airlines is expected to once again go on seasonal hiatus in August. Kerby said that there is every possibility that Frontier Airlines would be operating flights to Durango-La Plata County Airport only during the peak summer season, and would be utilizing its aircrafts elsewhere during the off-season. He said that the reason behind this might be that the passenger loads are quite light on flights to Durango.

Kate O’Malley, Spokeswoman at Frontier Airlines, said that the flights to Durango-La Plata County Airport would resume from May 16, 2014. She said that the service on this route will continue to be seasonal, but the seasonal end date is yet to be decided.

Apart from Frontier Airlines, other leading U.S. carriers such as American Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways are providing flight services to Dallas-Fort Worth and Denver from Durango.
