Hainan Airlines begin nonstop flights to San Jose from Beijing

Mineta San Jose International Airport recently received its first-ever nonstop flights from China. Media reports said that the inaugural flights to San Jose from Beijing operated by Hainan Airlines was welcomed with 180 passengers aboard to the traditional water cannon salute. The city leaders said that the direct flights to Silicon Valley from China holds great promise and going to benefit the people of the two cities immensely.

The reports said that Mineta San Jose International Airport, which is only a few miles from downtown San Jose, was earlier receiving its international flights from Japan. The nonstop flights was being operated by All Nippon Airways. The airport was also handling flights from few destinations in Mexico, which were operated by Alaska Airlines and Volaris. The reports further stated that the domestic, cross-country routes at Mineta were reduced to one red-eye flight to New York City.

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said that it''s a matter of great delight that Hainan Airlines has started offering nonstop flights from Beijing with the help of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. He said that Mineta San Jose International Airport will continue to attract other international airlines as well for launching flights to Seoul, Frankfurt and London as well.

With the launch of nonstop flights to San Jose on June 15, Hainan Airlines will now be serving its fourth destination in the United States. The airline in a statement said that it will be serving its  9,539-km Beijing-San Jose route with five times flights services per week. Other destinations being currently served in the U.S. by the leading Chinese carrier include Seattle-Tacoma, Chicago O''Hare and Boston.
