China’s fourth-largest carrier Hainan Airlines is all set to launch its new flights between Beijing and Calgary from June this year. This will be the airline’s first ever nonstop route to China’s capital city Beijing from Calgary to be launched starting June 30, 2016. The airline said that this will be also its second route to Canada and the first to be launched from Western Canada.
Hainan Airlines will deploy a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to operate flights on the new Calgary-Beijing route. The two-class Boeing 787 will serve the two destinations with thrice weekly flights services. The new flight would be complementing the airline’s existing nonstop flights on Toronto-Beijing route, which enable the travelers from Canada to take connecting flights to other important cities in China, such as Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Xi’an and Shanghai.
The nonstop flights between Calgary and Beijing will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week. The flight duration on the route would be of about 12 hours. The airline will be initially operating thrice weekly flights on the route, and has indicated that is planning to add an additional fourth flight later this year.
A spokesperson of Hainan Airlines said that its business class customers would be offered complimentary limousine service in Beijing. However, the airline is yet to start a similar service of its premium customers taking flights to/from Calgary. The premium customers traveling on either routes would be offered fully flat business class seats with in-flight turndown service and enjoy complimentary gourmet cuisines and beverages. The airline would also be providing a state-of-the-art personal in-flight entertainment system as well.
Hou Wei, Vice President of Hainan Airlines, said, “The company is delighted to launch its latest nonstop Calgary-Beijing route. Calgary will now be the second city in Canada where the airline will be offering its services. The airline is already operating nonstop flights to a major Canadian city Toronto from China’s capital city Beijing since 2010. The new flights would be further enhancing cultural and economic relations between Canada and China, and would also provide more travel options to the customers traveling from either destination.”
