Hawaiian Airlines to fine-tune Auckland flight schedule

Hawaiian Airlines, which launched its flights to Auckland 18 months ago, has acknowledged that it is satisfied with its performance on the route. The airline, while stating that it is performing well on the Auckland route, said that there is however a need to fine-tune its schedule here. The airline said that fine-tuning the schedule doesn’t necessarily mean that the frequencies on the route will be increased.

Hawaiian Airlines also expressed happiness over the fact that it helped out its rival Air New Zealand following mechanical snags that resulted in stranding of its passengers in Hawaii for several days.

Avi Mannis, Hawaiian Airlines’ Senior Vice-President of Marketing, said that the airline was quite encouraged with the response it was getting, particularly from those Kiwis who were traveling to the U.S. mainland. He also said that the airline will bring changes to its flight schedules during coming summer.

He said that beginning flights on a new route is a great experience and learning curve for the airline. The new market takes some time to develop. However, the passenger growth on New Zealand-Hawaii route is simply remarkable, positive and praiseworthy, said Mannis.

Hawaiian Airlines over the past few years made huge investments for expanding its long-haul network. The airline has grown rapidly with the launch of its flights to many destinations in Asia-Pacific. The airline is also making extensive efforts to offset recent losses.

Mannis said that New Zealand’s national carrier Air New Zealand reacted swiftly after Hawaiian Airline’s foray into the market. The prominent Kiwi carrier resorted to fare cutting, changed its schedule and added more capacity to effectively counter Hawaiian Airlines.

According to Mannis, the type of changes that Air New Zealand started making was in fact expected of every competitor in the circumstances. He said that Hawaiian Airlines will try its best to meet the challenges and continue to perform well on New Zealand-Hawaii route.
