Increased competition on LAX-New Zealand route dips fares further

The competition on Los Angeles- New Zealand route has intensified. This is undoubtedly good news for all those traveling or planning to travel between the two destinations. This has forced the airlines to offer discounted airfares.

American Airlines has decided to offer cheap flight tickets to its customers when booking roundtrip tickets in the United States for travel to New Zealand. The airline has announced it will be launching flights to Los Angeles from Auckland in late June 2016. The operations on the route will be conducted with the help of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

Media reports said that as soon as American Airlines announced its decision to launch flights between Auckland and Los Angeles last November rival carrier Air New Zealand immediately swung into action and announced price cuts to Los Angeles.

Moreover, United Airlines has also said that it will launch flights between Auckland and San Francisco starting in July this year. The flights on Auckland-San Francisco route will be conducted in partnership with Air New Zealand. The airline’s move to launch flights between the two destinations has further made the competition fiercer thus leading to significant curtailing of airfares. The new service being launched by United Airlines is likely to increase capacity on the North American route with an additional 140,000 seats every year. This will also boost New Zealand economy as well.

According to reports, Air New Zealand is also planning to expand its capacity and subsequently increase frequencies on its new Houston route. By announcing its plans the airline wants to satisfy the increasing demand of travelers from New Zealand for travel to the United States and also to renew the interests of American visitors for travel to New Zealand.

Auckland Airport officials have estimated that the new daily flights services being launched by American Airlines is expected to increase seat capacity between the United States and New Zealand by 16 percent, thus further adding 165,000 seats every year.
