Japan Airlines into new codeshare pact with American Airlines

Japan Airlines will begin its international flights to Brazil after its new codeshare agreement with American Airlines becomes effective in January this year.

The airline recently announced it has entered into a codeshare pact with American Airlines, which will take effect from January 27, 2013.

Japan Airlines indicated that its new codeshare pact with American Airlines would prove to be beneficial in strengthening its flight network in the two largest Brazilian cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

According to the airline, the latest codeshare agreement would enable it to add Rio de Janeiro as a new destination in its international network. Apart from this, it would also be able to increase the number of codeshare flights to and from Sao Paulo.

Both Japan Airlines and American Airlines are members of the oneworld alliance. The two carriers signed a joint business agreement on April 1, 2011, with an aim to offer services in trans-Pacific sector.

The airline said that the customers can now take advantage of this new pact and buy airline tickets for codeshare flights starting from January 23, 2013.
