Japan Airlines introduces its new JAL Sky Suite 787 cabin

Japan Airlines recently announced the launch of its new cabin interior to be prominently featured on its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft soon. The airline has branded the new cabin as JAL Sky Suite 787.

Japan’s national carrier in a statement said that the new JAL Sky Suite 787 will be first launched on its Tokyo Narita-Frankfurt route starting from December 2014. Japan Airlines is also planning to introduce the new cabin on its flights services between Tokyo Narita and New York effective from January 2015.

The airline indicated that the JAL Sky Suite 787 layout would be configured on all its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircrafts, which it has already placed orders for and expecting deliveries. The airline further said that the Boeing 787-9 aircrafts, its upcoming stretched variant, will also be equipped with JAL Sky Suite 787 layout. 

Japan Airlines said that its existing Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner layout has been revamped with the addition of a new Premium Economy cabin. According to the airline’s new seatmap the premium economy cabin will now be equipped with 35 seats.

Media reports said that the airline has made significant changes in its current B787-8 layout. Outlining the new changes, the airline said that the overall seat capacity will be curtailed to 161 from existing 186. The business class cabin will now have 38 seats instead of the existing 42. The seatmap in economy class also indicates a drastic change. The number of seats in economy class has been reduced in a big way, from existing 144 to 88 now.

The new JAL Sky Suite in business class will have fully-flat beds, similar to those being currently installed on its Boeing 777 aircrafts. The seats will be configured in a 2-2-2 layout and have direct aisle access.
