JetBlue Airways expanding presence in Portland, grows at SFO

JetBlue Airways has announced it will be expanding its presence in Portland. The airline recently launched its fourth nonstop flights from Portland International Airport (PDX), presently largest airport serving Oregon.
  
The airline will start operating seasonal nonstop flights to Anchorage from Portland starting from June 18, 2015. The three-and-half-hour flight will be operated daily through September 8. The Portland-Anchorage route will be operated with the help of an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Anchorage will now become the airline’s fourth destination from Portland. With the launch of new Portland-Anchorage route, JetBlue Airways will be aggressively competing with Alaska Airlines, which is also serving the route. Currently, Portland is the second-busiest hub of Alaska Airlines.

Apart from Anchorage, JetBlue Airways is presently offering nonstop flights to its Boston and New York JFK hubs from Portland. The airline is also serving Long Beach in California as well, which is its focus city.

The airline said that it is already operating nonstop flights to both Long Beach and Seattle from Anchorage. The seasonal service is operated during the summer.

Providing details of flight operations on the new route, JetBlue Airways said that the flights will depart from Portland at 8.49 pm and arrive in Anchorage at 11.29 pm. The return flight will make its departure from Anchorage at 11.59 pm and reach Portland at 4.35 am.

JetBlue Airways also said that it has started serving the West Coast with new flights being launched recently between Las Vegas and San Francisco. The airline is offering two daily roundtrip flights on the route with the help of a 150-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. Las Vegas will now be the airline’s fourth destination to be served with nonstop flights from San Francisco. The other three destinations include New York JFK, Long Beach and Boston.
