JetBlue Airways launching flights to Daytona Beach early 2016

JetBlue Airways recently announced it will be launching daily flights to Daytona Beach early 2016. The flights will be operated from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

Rick Karl, Director of Daytona Beach International Airport, said, “JetBlue Airways is planning to offer one daily flight between the two destinations early next year. The flight scheduled is likely to be announced later this year. The new service will be operated with the help of a 150-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.”

Karl said that extensive efforts were on since 2012 to bring New York-based low-cost carrier JetBlue Airways to Daytona Beach International Airport, which is being managed by the Volusia County Government.

The airline has also received strong support from the top local business leaders from Volusia and Flagler counties. The local authorities have also offered the airlines many other incentives in an effort to prompt it to begin services and sustain as well.

Karl further said that the New York City region is considered to be the best market opportunity for the airline from Daytona Beach. Continental Airlines had offered daily nonstop service between Daytona Beach International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport for the past 18 years, but had to finally stop its services because of the 2008 recession.

JetBlue Airways conducts its flight services out of its main hub at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. The airline presently owns a fleet of 205 aircrafts and operates 825 flights daily to 87 domestic and international destinations.
