JetBlue to end five routes, deploy planes to Washington Reagan

JetBlue Airways has announced its decision to terminate five routes in order to accommodate aircrafts to Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA). The budget carrier had previously won 12-slots to operate service to this airport and was keen to make the best use of this opportunity.

The New York City based airline has been offering flights to various destinations within the United States and neighboring countries ever since its launch in the year 1999. Travelers can book cheap flights with the airline to at least 84 cities listed on its itinerary. In line with its philosophy of expanding service, the airline is spreading its wings to various cities and Washington is one of these. However, in a bid to utilize the Washington service the airline will soon terminate service to five sectors.

Beginning June 16, 2014, the service between West Palm Beach – San Juan will cease to operate. San Francisco – Austin flights will take off for the last time on June 15, 2014, while Austin – San Francisco will witness last service on June 16, 2014. Likewise, Oakland – Washington Dulles service will terminate on June 15, 2015 and the return flight between Washington Dulles and Oakland will cease on June 16, 2014.

Apart from these routes, the service on Long Beach – Washington Dulles will end on September 1, 2014 and Washington Dulles – Long Beach flights will end on September 2, 2014. Besides, the seasonal service between Buffalo and Fort Myers will not take off as planned in November. The airline is looking forward to deploy planes from these terminated routes to Washington Reagan National Airport, as it believes the route will prove to be beneficial for it in the future. The airline will refund the passengers who will face the inconvenience from these cancellations.
