Johannesburg to soon be served with BA’s superjumbo A380 jets

Johannesburg the vivacious city in South Africa is often visited by flyers from across the world. While most come to the city to explore the perfect African Safari others are obliged by their business commitments. The city receives and welcomes its foreign visitors at O.R. Tambo International Airport. Most big players across continents serve the constitutional capital of South Africa. Being one of the frequented destinations for business and leisure many airlines offer business class flights to the city with a motive to provide comfortable travel to their customers.

British Airways (BA), announced recently of its intention to fly Airbus A380 to Johannesburg beginning February 12, 2014. This is a chance for passengers flying to the city to explore the true meaning of lavishness onboard the double-decker superjumbo jet. The tickets for the London-Johannesburg route are already up for grabs. Initially the carrier will fly thrice a week on the route and eventually increase the frequency to six per week by March 2014. Business travelers have a golden opportunity lined up to fly this route from early next year.  The commercial capital of the country is only the third city to be served by BA’s pioneer possession. This news has created a flutter in the industry and has set anxiety soaring amongst the travelers waiting to explore the exquisite of this inventive aircraft. The aircraft will seat 44 business passengers on the main deck while 53 will be seated on the upper floor.

Another good news for the African travelers is that Delta Air Lines, the big United States player that offers daily nonstop service between Johannesburg and Atlanta has won the Leading Edge award in the Best Flight Experience to Africa in 2013 category. The title was conferred to the airline by the readers of the Executive Travel Magazine.
