KLM signs codeshare agreement with Pegasus Airlines

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Turkish carrier Pegasus Airlines recently signed a codeshare agreement. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in a statement said that Pegasus Airlines is aiming to increase its passenger numbers with the new codeshare pact. The two airlines announced their cooperation deal at a press conference at Istanbul.

The Dutch carrier also indicated that it entered into a codeshare pact with Pegasus Airlines hoping to attract more customers from Turkey.

According to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, it has already started selling plane tickets for flights from Izmir’s Adnan Menderes Airport and Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Turkey to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport before transferring the passengers to the U.S. and Canada on one ticket.

Pieter Bootsma, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Revenue Management Network for Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, said that the airline expects to find many customers on Pegasus Airlines flights in the domestic market in Turkey. He said that KLM hopes to get 40,000 to 50,000 additional passengers every year.
