Korean Air to launch Boeing 787-9 flights to Toronto, Madrid

Korean Air introduced its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft at Seoul Incheon Airport. This will be South Korea’s first Dreamliner aircraft scheduled to be launched into operations. The airline promises its customers an enhanced flying experience when traveling on this aircraft.

Media reports said that Korean Air is mulling to deploy the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on long-haul international routes where there is increased leisure travel demand. The aircraft will be first put on trial on domestic routes between JeJu Airport and Seoul’s Gimpo Airport for a month-long period in accordance with the mandatory certification period.

According to the reports, after the completion of successful trial Korean Air will be deploying the Dreamliner aircraft to operate long-haul flights from Seoul to Toronto and Madrid sometime later this year. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft is configured with a total of 269 seats in three travel classes – 6 seats in First Class, 18 seats in Prestige Class and 245 seats in Economy Class.

Providing the details about the aircraft, the reports said that the interiors of the cabins in Dreamliner aircraft have been designed quite differently and in stark contrast to that of conventional aircraft. The latest LED lighting technology has been used in the Premium Cabin. The brightness of lighting and color is adjusted based on environment and time. The lighting has five different modes for landing, sleeping, sunset/sunrise, dining and take-off, thus making the atmosphere for the passengers comfortable.

Moreover, the cabin windows size is larger than usually found in a conventional aircraft. The cabin windows in Dreamliner are 78 percent larger, thus offering a better outside view to the passengers. The transparency of the windows can be adjusted in five different levels with the help of buttons. The conventional aircraft usually have manually operated window covers, which have now been replaced. Korean Air has announced it will be adding five Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to its fleet in 2017. The airline will also be acquiring five more Dreamliners by 2019.
