La Compagnie planning to add New York-London route this spring

All-business class French carrier La Compagnie has announced that it will start operating new flights between New York and London from this spring.

The new French start-up initially operated under the name of Dreamjet SAS, but later on rebranded itself and started operating under the name of La Compagnie. The first flight under this brand name was operated between Paris and Newark in July 2014.

The airline is presently operating a single Boeing 757 aircraft equipped with a total of 74 business class seats that can be converted into beds during night. The airline will be taking delivery of its second similar aircraft in December this year.

Frantz Yvelin, Chief Executive of La Compagnie, said that with the delivery of its second Boeing 757 aircraft the airline wants to link a London airport with Newark and wants to continue offering the competitive business class fares to the customers traveling on New York-London route.

Yvelin said that the airline has already been awarded landing and takeoff slots at London’s Gatwick Airport. He further indicated that the airline is also exploring possibilities of starting services from either Stansted or Luton, which are other two smaller airports in London.

The airline is presently operating flights on Paris-Newark route six times per week, which is likely to be converted to a daily service from January 2015. The percentage of seats on the route during the first three months exceeded 50 percent. Yvelin said that this is considered to be a good performance during the ramp-up phase.

The sale of business class tickets for travel between New York and London are expected to begin from December this year. The airline is also planning to begin the service on the route by the end of March 2015. The service is likely to be initially operated five times every week.
