LAN Airlines new Boeing 787-9 fleet to serve international routes

LAN Airlines recently welcomed its first Boeing 787-9 aircraft in its fleet and started using it to operate new flights between Santiago and Peru in April 2015. The airline has now announced it will expand its services further and deploy its new Boeing 787-9 aircrafts to conduct flights to international destinations.

Media reports said that LAN Airlines has placed orders for six Boeing 787-9 aircrafts, which it expects to include in its fleet this year. The Boeing 787-9 aircrafts are in fact extended version of Boeing 787-8 aircrafts. It is large and has the capacity to carry 27 percent more passengers than Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Apart from this, it is also designed to carry 23 percent more cargo as well. The Boeing 787-9 aircraft is also configured with two classes. Those booking business class tickets are offered 30 seats in Premium Business Class cabin, while those traveling in Economy Class will be offered 283 seats.

The reports said that LAN Airlines is all set to expand its service and operate Boeing 787-9 aircrafts to Los Angeles later this year. Other destinations where the airline is planning to utilize its new Boeing 787-9 aircrafts to operate flights include Sydney, Auckland, Frankfurt, Madrid, Easter Island and New York. The flights to these destinations will be operated from Santiago.

The new aircrafts being acquired this year will fulfill the airline’s objectives to expand its international network further. By including Boeing 787-9 aircraft in its fleet, LAN Airlines has now become the only carrier in Latin America to conduct flight services utilizing both the models of Boeing 787.”
