Leading Latin American airline
LAN Airlines recently announced that it will buy 20 modern aircrafts from the Airbus A320 family. The airline said that the 20 modern, eco-efficient A320neo aircrafts will be delivered between 2017 and 2018.
The order, which is valued at US$1,700 million approximately, is part of LAN Airlines’ fleet renewal program and expansion strategy.
Ignacio Cueto, Chief Operating Officer of LAN Airlines, said that placing orders for the inclusion of A320neo aircrafts to the LAN’s fleet is an important step in the history of the airline, and will ensure its leadership in the region. He also remarked that the Airbus A320 family has done well by bringing significant improvements to range capabilities and fuel efficiency to the A320neo.
Mr. Cueto further said that LAN Airlines is strongly committed to the environment and has demonstrated this by placing orders for buying Airbus A320neo aircrafts. He said that the aviation industry’s latest technology is reflected in the aircrafts. They are highly fuel-efficient and with considerably lower emissions, and decreased noise levels, he said.
According to the LAN Airlines, the A320neo is a greatly improved version brought by the Airbus A320 family. The A320neo is equipped with new and highly efficient engines with large Sharklet wingtip devices. The main feature of the A320neo is that it is highly fuel-efficient, and results in about 15 percent in fuel savings, besides proving several other benefits.
