LAN to operate U.S., other routes with its first Boeing 787-900

Chile’s national carrier LAN Airlines, which is a part of LATAM Airline Group, recently received its first Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline has presently become the first carrier in the Americas to acquire its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The airline said that it has placed orders for 32 new aircrafts and would be receiving them over the next 10 years. LAN Airlines has invested $4.9 billion, which is said to be one of the largest in its history so far, to purchase these aircrafts. The airline said that it will receive a total of three such aircrafts by the end of 2015. The Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner aircrafts are equipped with latest technology and expected to revolutionize the airline industry.

LAN Airlines in a statement said that it will be using its first Boeing 787-900 aircraft to operate flights on its domestic route between Isla de Pascua and Santiago, and will also make use of the aircraft to conduct flights on international routes as well. These destinations include New York JFK, Los Angeles, Lima, Buenos Aires, Madrid and São Paulo.

The prominent feature of the new Boeing 787-900 aircraft will be its fully flat seats in the Premium Business class cabin equipped with a lumbar massage. The customers booking business class tickets will also be offered advanced in-flight entertainment system as well.
 
The airline will be conducting flights to various destinations from the newly-opened Terminal 3 at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport, which has a fully automated luggage check-in system, and 40 check-in counters operated jointly by LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines.
