LaSalle Hotel Properties takes over Portland’s The Heathman Hotel

The Heathman Hotel in Portland has a new owner now. The hotel was recently acquired by LaSalle Hotel Properties for an estimated $64.3 million. The hotel is situated at 1001 SW Broadway Street in the central part of downtown Portland. The strategic location of the 150-room hotel makes the business visitors staying here easily gain access to entertainment venues, restaurants, shopping malls and office towers.

The Heathman Hotel was built in 1927. This historic property has been quite well maintained and preserved. The hotel has 150 rooms, including 40 suites. The spacious meeting space spanning in an area of 3,833 square feet has a capacity to accommodate up to 200 people and a seated banquet of nearly 150 people.

The hotel has received wide acclaim and has even been prominently featured in the famous novel “Fifty Shades of Grey”. Among the various awards received by the hotel include "Best Hotels of 2014" by U.S. News and World Report, and many others.
 
The hotel offers various amenities to its customers. Its signature dining outlet ‘The Heathman Restaurant & Bar’ offers locally sourced delectable fare, which includes exotic seafood procured from the Pacific Northwest and free-range meat dishes. The hotel’s prominent attraction however is the historic and original Tea Court Lounge. The visitors can entertain themselves with live jazz being played at the lounge from Wednesday through Saturday night.

Another important attraction of this hotel is its library, which is home to an impressive collection of more than 2,500 signed books authored by Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winners, two U.S. Presidents and U.S. Poet Laureates. The library can be visited from Monday to Thursday between 5 pm and 7 pm, along with complimentary wine.
