LOT Polish Airlines launches its longest direct Warsaw-Los Angeles service

The launch of flights to Los Angeles will now make it the airline’s first scheduled flights services to any U.S. West Coast destination and its fourth destination in North America. Moreover, this will also be only direct service to be offered anywhere between the U.S. West Coast and Central Europe. The airline is presently conducting flights services on Krakow-Chicago and Warsaw-Newark Liberty routes, which will also continue through summer 2017.

A spokesperson of LOT Polish Airlines said that with the launch of new Warsaw-Los Angeles service it will strongly focusing on the customers planning to visit Southern California from the Central European region. It may be noted that LOT Polish Airlines is presently the only major long haul operator serving to/from Central European region and the only airline to serve Los Angeles from this region.

Low-cost carriers such as Wizz Air and Ryanair are trying to offer stiff competition on short-haul and medium-haul routes. Both these carriers account for more seat capacity in Poland than being provided by LOT Polish Airlines.

Meanwhile, Austrian Airlines is another major European carrier which launched new flights between Vienna and Los Angeles effective April 10, 2017. The direct service between the two destinations will initially be operated five-times per week. The airline is planning to extend the service during the coming summer schedule in mid-June and operate up to six-times per week flights utilizing its Boeing 777-200 aircrafts. The flight distance between Vienna and Los Angeles is 9,877 km and the duration of the flight on the route will be nearly 12 hours 30 minutes.
