LOT Polish Airlines set to expand North America presence in 2016

LOT Polish Airlines recently announced it is set to expand its presence in North America in 2016. The airline will be increasing the number of flights to Chicago and New York from Warsaw during the coming winter season. The airline will introduce two additional frequencies from both New York and Chicago during its winter schedule.

Apart from increasing flight frequencies to New York and Chicago, LOT Polish Airlines has also indicated that it will be launching flights to many new long-haul destinations from its main hub at Warsaw. The new destinations in Asia include Tokyo, Seoul and Bangkok.

Poland’s flagship carrier also said that it will be introducing flights services to some new destinations in Europe as well. The new European routes where the airline is planning to begin services include Nice, Cluj-Napoca, Zurich and Ljubljana.

The airline considers new long-haul flights as its most strategy to expand its international network. Beginning next year, LOT Polish Airline will first start operating its flights to Tokyo from Warsaw effective from January 13, 2016. This will be the airline’s first direct connection to Japan from Poland and New Europe (Central and Eastern Europe). The airline is also planning to launch flights to Seoul and Bangkok in autumn 2016.

A spokesperson of LOT Polish Airlines said that the routes where the flights had been suspended because of the Restructuring Plan would also become operational. The airline will once again start direct flights to Barcelona, Beirut, Zurich, Nice and Athens between January and March next year. The flights to other destinations such as Zagreb, Chisinau, Yerevan, Dusseldorf, Belgrade and Krakow would also be restored.
