Poland’s flagship carrier LOT Polish Airlines recently announced it will be launching flights from Newark Liberty to Warsaw starting from April 28, 2017. The airline had earlier revealed its plans to launch flights from New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport in September this year but had then declined to reveal the launch date.
Now that the launch of the new service has been announced in April end next year, LOT Polish Airlines in a statement said that it would be operating thrice weekly flights between the two destinations. The airline further indicated that it would be adding a fourth weekly service as well in June 2017.
The flights on Warsaw-Newark Liberty route would be initially operated with the help of leased Boeing 767-300 aircrafts. The airline would later on replace the Boeing 767-300 aircrafts with its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts to operate the route in August next year. The leased Boeing 767 aircrafts would be offering business class and economy class cabins, while the new Boeing 787 Dreamliners would also be offering premium economy cabins as well, in addition to business class and economy class cabins.
The Warsaw-Newark Liberty route was earlier served by LOT Polish Airlines, but the service was however discontinued in 2012. The airline while discontinuing the service on the route had said that it wanted to “consolidate” its New York-area operations only at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). It may be known that Newark Liberty airport also serve New York area, apart from New York JFK.
Rafal Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, said, “The Polish diaspora considers Newark Liberty International Airport as one of the most important airports on the east coast of the United States. It is a matter of great delight and a welcome development indeed that flights services between Warsaw and Newark Liberty are being once again relaunched after several years on interruption. The Polish diaspora stands to benefit with the resumption of the service and would get even more flexible travel options to conveniently connect between the United States and Poland.”
