Lufthansa begins its restaurant service in business class

Germany’s national carrier Lufthansa recently started offering its new restaurant service on its long-haul business class flights from August this year. The premium customers travelling in business class are now being individually catered to by the flight attendants in the same manner as orders for meals are placed in a top-class restaurant.

As you board your flight and enter the business class cabin, you will be personally welcomed by the flight attendants and addressed respectfully by your name. The orders for your meals will be taken and the table would be set with ceramic crockery. The meals will be then served to you directly from the galley. For a change, the flight trolleys and trays have been replaced by service plates.

The restaurant service was first introduced by Lufthansa on its introductory business class flights to New York JFK and Miami in the months of June and July respectively on its Airbus A380 aircrafts. The airline has now introduced its innovative restaurant service on its Airbus A380 flights to San Francisco, Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, Singapore, Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing, Delhi and Johannesburg from August 2015.

Lufthansa has also announced that the restaurant service will be introduced on flights from Frankfurt on its Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 747-8 aircrafts effective from October 1, 2015. The airline will also be introducing this new service on its Airbus A340 flights to the Middle East and Asia from Munich and Frankfurt starting from October 25 this year.

The flights attendants have been specially trained for the purpose. The new concept restaurant service has already been tested on around 130 flights and has been well received by Lufthansa’s business class customers.
