Lufthansa Jumps to Tampa with New Low Cost Nonstop Flights

Lufthansa (Frankfurt) will commence ‘Jump’ its newly launched low-fare subsidiary service to Tampa, Florida from September 25, 2015. The airline will deploy three Airbus A340-300s on Frankfurt-Tampa route after reconfiguring the aircraft to accommodate 298 passengers. The nonstop flight from Frankfurt will use an LH flight number with the airline’s branding.

Lufthansa is refitting the wide body aircrafts with 298 seats including 18 seats in Business Class, 19 in the new Premium Economy and 261 seats in Economy Class. The fleet for Jump subsidiary will grow to 14 out of 18 aircrafts from the A340-300 series. The business class seats transform into a comfortable flat bed with a length of 6.5 feet by a push of a button. The newly launched Premium Economy Class features more legroom and private space. The customers will enjoy in-flight entertainment with a wide variety of movies and television shows. Fast Broadband Internet connectivity is available by FlyNet Wi-Fi hotspot.

The airline will be flying five times a week in summers and four times a week in winters. Tampa is Lufthansa’s third destination in Florida after Miami and Orlando.

Flight LH 482 will land in Tampa International Airport (TPA) in the afternoon at 3.50 pm local time after an eleven hour flight from Frankfurt departing at 11.00 am on all days except Wednesdays and Thursdays. The return leg LH 483 from the West Coast of Florida leaves at 5.20 pm on the same days and lands at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in the following morning at 8.45 am local time.

CEO of Lufthansa German Airlines, Karl Ulrich Garnadt announced to the media that ‘Jump’ would also serve other destinations including Cape Town, Cancun, Panama City and Nairobi in the coming days.
