Germany’s national carrier Lufthansa, which started operations 91 year ago, is set to bring its customers closer to sunny beaches of San Diego and make it a must-go destination for all those planning to visit the United States. The airline has recently announced it will launch its new flights from Frankfurt to San Diego from next summer onwards. The flights will be operated five-times every week.
This will be Lufthansa’s first regular scheduled flights to San Diego, the second-largest city of California state. In fact, San Diego International Airport will also be welcoming its seventh foreign carrier. The airline is yet to announce airfares for travel on the route. Lufthansa is presently offering flights services to Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose. In fact, the flights to San Jose were launched by the airline last year.
Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Lufthansa Group’s Airline Sales Vice President for the Americas, said, “The launch of new flights to San Diego will prove to be beneficial as customers booking flights from Frankfurt will be able to efficiently connect to both Northern and Southern California for the first time. This is also a great opportunity for San Diegans to fly directly to Frankfurt while enjoying Lufthansa’s premium products and quality service.”
Kimberly Becker, President and CEO of San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, said, “It is a matter of great delight that Lufthansa has been added as yet another foreign carrier to the airport’s growing list. The customers flying out of San Diego International Airport will find it convenient to connect to European destinations round the year. Moreover, this is yet another opportunity for the county’s businesses and leisure travelers to gain access to newer destinations throughout the year, which they so far couldn’t when traveling via London Heathrow. I also want to inform that Germans are passionate about beaches and the outdoors, and they are sure to find San Diego to be attractive in many ways.”
