Lufthansa planning new business class on its subsidiaries by 2020

The business class scene in Europe is going to see one of its largest ever shake ups. Germany’s national carrier Lufthansa has announced it is planning to launch its new business class products groupwide, involving all its subsidiaries, to boost operations and earn big revenues. Apart from Lufthansa, the new product would be introduced on the airline’s subsidiaries, which among others include Austrian Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines. However, the company has so far declined to mention whether its another subsidiary Brussels Airlines would get the new product or not.

Media reports said that this significant change is going to take place for the first time after 2003 when fully flat bed with direct aisle access was introduced by Virgin Atlantic Airways. It may be noted that Lufthansa had introduced new business class cabins on its Airbus A350 aircraft in February 2017. The reports said that the new business class being introduced groupwide is expected to enhance the passenger experience, both in the air and on the ground.

The reports further stated that the new business class cabins would be offering direct aisle access to each customer. Currently, Austrian Airlines is offering direct aisle access in business class on its Boeing 767 aircrafts. Moreover, the newly developed next generation business class seats would be equipped with digitalization and customization features. The premium customers traveling in the new business class cabins would be able to wirelessly control their seats with the help of their own tablets or smartphones. They will also be able to directly control the state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system and position of their seas utilizing their own personal electronic devices.

A spokesperson of Lufthansa said that the company is planning to launch its new Boeing Triple Seven X aircrafts in 2020. The next generation aircraft will have exclusively designed business class cabins installed. The new business class seats have been developed for the network airlines, which includes Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines and Austrian Airlines.
