Lufthansa Unveils New Business Class Seats

Germany’s flag carrier Lufthansa recently unveiled its new business class seats with full-flat, horizontal sleeping surface measuring 6.5 feet in length.

The airline said that seats on business class flights convert to a comfortable bed at the push of a button guaranteeing maximum sleeping comfort as a flat bed, and with its intuitive adjustments can also be made into an upright or reclining seat.

Besides, the new seats in business class are also equipped with additional storage space and enhanced entertainment system.

The airline said in a statement that the passengers will get an opportunity to enjoy the features of Lufthansa’s business class cabins once the new Boeing 747-8 aircrafts enter into scheduled service in a few weeks’ time. 

Prior to unveiling its new business class cabins, Lufthansa had conducted a survey of more than 500 frequent flyers in 2007 to know their preferences and requirements that they want in business class seats.

After the survey, the airline later on developed various concepts with the aid of well-known ergonomics experts, designers and seat manufacturers.

In 2010, the airline also conducted an eight-week trial on the Frankfurt-New York-Frankfurt route with 1,349 passengers and specially recruited crew on board the test flights.

Lufthansa stated that the new Business Class seat is a major component and its largest investment to date in its inflight product.
