Lufthansa upgrades its business class with V Concept

Lufthansa, the big commercial carrier of Germany has upgraded its business class and termed it as the V Concept. The latest renovation by the airline focuses more on physical comfort than amenities and services offered onboard. This upgrade is a part of the carrier’s larger plan to woo travelers in the highly volatile and competitive industry.

The airline used the services of London based design studio PearsonLloyd to redesign its seats and interiors. The new concept provides the customers recliner-like seats for a better and improved comfort.  These seats, which are six feet six inches long and about two feet wide are designed to absorb shocks 16 times more than the strength of gravity. They also contain a padded footrest.
 
Pearson from PearsonLloyd said that the concept is not unique in the industry. However, he added that the design studio utilized the space within the plane differently and came up with this unique outline. He further added that some features are exclusive to business class seats on Lufthansa.

Passengers traveling on business class tickets constitute a large chunk of revenue earners for the airline. Therefore, the decision to offer improved comforts on long haul flights to these customers makes sense for the carrier.

Björn Bosler, Manager for Passenger Experience Design, Business, and Premium at Lufthansa said that business class invites competition. He added that the war to attract premium customers has become rampant in the aviation industry.
