Malaysia Airlines Kuala Lumpur-Kaohsiung flight service to be stopped in October

Malaysia Airlines announced recently that it will stop operating Kuala Lumpur to Kaohsiung direct flight services in October 2011.

The airline is currently operating a daily flight service from Kuala Lumpur to Kaohsiung in Taiwan.

Chen Shen-shang, Director-General of Kaohsiung City's Tourism Bureau, said that the Malaysia Airlines after analyzing the financial benefits of its existing service had to take the sudden decision to stop flight service on Kuala Lumpur-Kaohsiung route from October this year.

However, Chen said that Taiwan’s Kaohsiung City Government will try its best not to let the local tourism be impacted in any way. He said that the city government is already in talks with China Airlines and Air Asia to continue to operate on this route.

Air Asia is currently operating direct flight services from Malaysia to northern Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport.
