Marriott’s first U.S hotel for millennials opened in New Orleans

Leading international hotel chain Marriott recently inaugurated its first hotel in the United States exclusively devoted to millennial travelers. The new hotel was opened in New Orleans by the AC Hotel Bourbon.

Arne Sorenson, CEO of Marriott, said that this is the first initiative by the popular hotel chain in the United States to open its doors particularly for the millennial travelers who were born in the mid 1980s to early 2000s. The hotel consists of 220 rooms.

Sorenson said that the needs of the traveling millennials have been kept into mind. She said that the motive behind opening of the hotel is rather more of a mindset than age. The hotel will perfectly relate to the younger, tech-enabled traveler that they just might be looking for.
 
The historic Cotton Exchange building is presently home to the new hotel. Each room has been designed exquisitely. It’s modern with hardwood floors and minimalist look. The nightstands have plenty of USB ports and plugs. The rooms are well furnished and equipped with flatscreen TVs and Bluetooth-enabled speaker systems as well. The attached bathrooms have “spa-like” showers too. However, other in-room amenities have been shifted to a common area.

According to Sorenson, a “hydration station” has been installed on every floor. The millineals will be able to utilize them for keeping their paraben-free water carriers filled. There are chilled glasses in mini-fridges. The mini bar items here are affordable and moderately priced. Beverages from Jose Andres and snacks are also available for purchase at a small outpost in the lobby. A library with wireless printers will also be there instead of the traditional business center.
