Customer Care 7 Days A Week

Match-Up in Miami

American Airlines and US Airways are taking baby steps down the aisle toward a seamless merger of their operations; and understandably so, as the two are now the largest airline in the world. Just last week, another step was taken as the new couple combined operations at Miami International Airport.

US Airways ended its operations in the South Terminal, Concourse J, and joined American in North Terminal, Concourse D. The airlines expect the move to help facilitate a more seamless experience for customers starting or ending their travels in Miami or connecting on flights at the airline’s hub.

All US Airways ticketing and check-in, baggage services and customer service operations began working out of Concourse D, with ticketing and check-in counters located on Level 2 (conveniently next to American’s ticketing and check-in). and flights operating out of gates in nearby Concourse E, with easy access to connecting flights on American in both the D and E Concourses.

With the move, US Airways Club members now have more convenient access to two American Airlines Admirals Club lounges in Concourse D. Eligible US Airways customers departing from Concourse E can also access American’s Premium Lounge with Iberia and British Airways, located in Concourse E just beyond the security checkpoint on the fifth floor.

American and US Airways provide approximately 350 daily departures to 121 destinations in more than 40 countries/territories from their combined hub at Miami International Airport.

The newly joined airlines, however, offered this caveat: “Customers traveling on American and US Airways should continue to check in for flights and conduct business with the airline operating their flight.” So it’s not a merger made in heaven just yet.
