More seats, low fares on competitive routes across Pacific

Air New Zealand is all set to boost its capacity throughout the Pacific considering the surging demand for extra flights by both the Kiwis and Americans. Media reports quoting Air New Zealand officials said that there will be additional 56,000 seats in 2015 with fares to decline further amid growing competition across the Pacific.

The reports said that Air New Zealand will be operating additional flights between Auckland and Los Angeles as also to Vancouver beginning next northern summer. The airline’s move to provide additional flights is aimed at meeting the increasing passenger demand and also efficiently connect Australia to different parts of the United States.

Media reports quoted Richard Thomson, Air New Zealand’s General Manager of Networks, as saying that the additional flights would be a boon for the passengers as they will be able to buy cheap tickets because of low airfares due to stiff competition.
 
According to Thomson, the airline is ready to compete with all its rivals and is committed to attract passengers in a big way by selling more and more seats at low fares. He said that the market is growing now and the airline is not going to sit idle. If it doesn’t act now then it will be at a severe loss.

Air New Zealand is adding more widebody aircrafts to its fleet even as it continues to be engaged in a bitter turf war with other carriers, particularly Hawaiian Airlines. The report said that Hawaiian Airlines is effectively connecting various destinations in the United States beyond Los Angeles.

Air New Zealand has indicated that it will be introducing three additional flights per week between Auckland and Los Angeles from March to October 2015. The airline will also be adding a fourth flight per week during July and October, which are New Zealand school holiday months.
