New business class seats on Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ERs

Singapore Airlines recently announced it will be rolling out new business class seat in Q3 2013. The airline indicated that it would be adopting a conventional forward-facing layout instead of the popular herringbone layout.

Tan Pee Teck, Singapore Airline’s Senior Vice-President of Product and Services, confirmed that the airline had decided against installing the business class seats on the pattern of popular herringbone layout, which is being increasingly adopted by various airlines. He said that the airline has instead decided to install the new seats in business class cabins employing the conventional forward-facing layout.

Tan also said that the airline is still considering installing premium economy class seats and the matter is not closed yet. It will take some time to install the product after the airline analyses how successful the premium product will be in the long term.

He however said that as for now the premium economy seats would not appear on the airline’s new seating grid. He said that the A380-style business class seats would be installed on the airline’s new Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts. The upgrades are scheduled to be completed in July next year.
