If you are traveling on long-haul flights with a hand baggage then here’s a surprise in store for you by TAP Portugal. A new hand baggage-only fare has been introduced by Portugal’s flagship carrier on
long-haul routes to the United States, Canada, Venezuela, Africa and Brazil. This is the airline’s one of the six revamped fare options launched for intercontinental flights. The discount fare will be applicable for the flights booked starting from September 1, 2017 onwards.
A spokesperson of TAP Portugal said that the new discount fare would be offered at highly competitive prices to those customers who prefer traveling only with carry-on baggage. The fare offered in economy class would be of three types – Basic, Classic and Plus.
The Basic fare would be available for those who would be carrying one piece of checked luggage of up to 23 kg. The customers opting for Classic fare would be allowed to carry two pieces of checked baggage. In addition to this, they would also be offered pre-assigned seats as well. The Plus fare comes with several benefits, apart from three pieces of checked baggage. These benefits among others include priority check-in, pre-assigned seats, and flexibility in itinerary changes and reservations.
The discount fare is also being offered in business class as well. It comes with two fare options –Executive and Top Executive. The customers booking Executive fare would be offered the advantage of traveling with two pieces of checked baggage of up to 32 kg each. Apart from this, they will also be offered priority boarding and lounge access. The Top Executive fare option is fully flexible, and comes along with three pieces of checked baggage of up to 32 kg each, in addition to the benefits offered in Executive fare.
TAP Portugal had earlier last year introduced a new fare structure for long-haul routes in North Africa and Europe, thus lowering the fares by nearly 34 percent on average. The airline in a statement said that the newly launched fares would come as a major relief for the customers as they would now have the liberty of choosing and paying only for those services required by them.
