Australia’s national carrier Qantas Airways has recently unveiled its new loyalty program, which is primarily targeted at small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). The loyalty program is called “Qantas Business Rewards”.
A spokesperson of Qantas Airways said that the loyalty program “Qantas Business Rewards” is an upgrade of the existing Aquire initiative, which was introduced in 2014 and presently has approximately 125,000 members. This loyalty program has been created exclusively for SMEs. Under this program when the employees of the respective SMEs book Qantas Airways-operated flights or Emirates Airline and American Airlines flights carrying a QF flight code, they are able to earn Qantas Points.
Moreover, through this loyalty program rewards can also be earned on eligible purchases made on the ground, which includes telecommunications, recruitment and office supplies. This also covers among others purchases made at up to 40 non-airline retail partners, such as Jaguar, Land Rover and Caltex Australia. The purchases made thus leads to the point accrual of that respective business. The point rewards earned through the purchases would be in addition to the Status Credits and Qantas Points earned by an individual while being a frequent flyer member.
Media reports said that the “Qantas Business Rewards” program has been improvised with new features which were not included in the previous Aquire system. These features include earning Qantas Points on spending the first dollar and also earning points at an increasing pace the more you travel. Apart from this, contractors and staff traveling under the respective business’ ABN (Australian Business Number) also become eligible to accrue points for that company, thus increasing its points balance.
Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas Airways Group, said, “People want to be rewarded for showing their loyalty to Qantas Airways. This has been amply reflected by the success of our frequent flyer program. It would be appropriate to say that Qantas Points are really valued by our frequent customers. This is also equally true with small businesses too. It is hoped that some of the companies would use the points they had earned and reward their employees through incentive trips.”
