New premium lounge by Etihad Airways at Melbourne Airport open

The new Premium Lounge has recently been opened by Etihad Airways at Melbourne Airport. With the opening of the new lounge, the airline’s first and business class customers would be able to work, dine, relax and get entertained prior to boarding their flights.

With an expansive area of more than 800 square meters, the Premium Lounge at Melbourne Airport is now considered to be the largest outside Etihad Airways’ main hub Abu Dhabi. The lounge offers a seating capacity of up to 133 passengers.

Media reports said that the guests in The Residence would be able to enjoy amenities offered at the exclusive private lounge when the inaugural Airbus A380 services is launched by Etihad Airways starting from June 1, 2016. The new Premium Lounge is situated adjacent to the main lounge entry.

Etihad Airways first started operating daily flights to Melbourne from Abu Dhabi in March 2009. The airline has ever since expanded its operations. The travelers from Australia can now take advantage to twice daily nonstop flights services to Abu Dhabi and beyond to Europe, Africa and GCC countries. Moreover, Etihad Airways is currently the only airline to operate double daily nonstop flights between the UAE and Melbourne. The airline will now be launching its flagship Airbus A380 aircraft to Melbourne starting from June 1 and will be offering ‘The Residence’, the world’s only private three-room cabin on any scheduled commercial aircraft.

Apart from twice daily flights services to Melbourne, Etihad Airways is also operating daily flights to Perth and Brisbane from Abu Dhabi. The airline is also offering 11 weekly flights services to Sydney as well. Etihad Airways’ equity partner airline Virgin Australia is also conducting additional thrice weekly flights services between UAE’s capital city Abu Dhabi and Sydney.

According to reports, in addition to the new Premium Lounge at Melbourne Airport Etihad Airways continues to expand its portfolio of premium lounges at other airports worldwide as well. These include New York, Washington D.C., Paris, Manchester, London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Dublin, Abu Dhabi and Sydney.
