Norwegian launching new London Gatwick-Boston flights next May

Norway’s flagship carrier Norwegian recently announced it will be launching a new transatlantic route in 2016. Media reports said that the low-cost carrier will start operating flights to Boston from London Gatwick from the month of May next year.

The flights between London Gatwick Airport and Boston International Airport will be operated four times per week. The airline is however yet to announce further details about the flight timings and days of operation of the new service.

Norwegian had first launched its weekly transatlantic flights to New York JFK, Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles from London Gatwick during the summer of 2013. Later on, the airline expanded its operations and doubled its flights services to Los Angeles and New York JFK from London Gatwick in summer 2014.

The airline increased the number of flights to New York JFK from thrice weekly to six-times weekly services from May 2, 2014, while the flights to Los Angeles was increased from twice weekly to four times per week effective from May 4 last year.

Norwegian also increased its frequencies between Los Angeles and Oslo from once to twice weekly from April 1, 2014. The flights services on Stockholm-Oakland route was also increased from twice weekly to three times per week starting from March 30 last year.

Bjorn Kjos, CEO of Norwegian, said, “It is a matter of great delight that Norwegian has become the preferred airline for over 200,000 passengers when flying to transatlantic destinations. The airline will base additional Dreamliner aircrafts at London Gatwick next year for operating flights to Boston, and planning services to new routes as well.”
