Norwegian nonstop flights from Seattle, Denver to London in Sept

Media reports said that Norwegian Air will be conducting flights services to London’s Gatwick Airport from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Denver International Airport. The airline will now be serving nine routes between London and United States.

According to the reports, a fare war has escalated among legacy carriers to attract transatlantic customers in a big way thus driving down ticket prices significantly. Budget carriers such as Norwegian Air Shuttle will now have to face increasing competition from Air France and ICAG, the company owning British Airways and Iberia, as they both have revealed their plans to operate low-cost flights in future. Even, Germany’s national carrier Lufthansa through its low-cost Eurowings subsidiary is looking forward to expand services to long-haul budget conscious travelers.

The announcement by Norwegian Air Shuttle to expand its network in the United States came after U.S. Department of Transportation finally gave its long-awaited approval to the airline’s Irish subsidiary Norwegian Air International in December last year for operating transatlantic routes.

Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer of Norwegian Air, said, “The airline is continuing with the expansion of its network to the United States, which is going to bring more tourists to the country than before in addition to supporting American jobs. The airline at the same time has also kept the costs low by operating flights to/from smaller airports that charge lower fees. The transatlantic flights are usually costly. Norwegian Air has therefore wanted to serve the customers who don’t want to pay high prices for their tickets on other airlines, and are particularly budget conscious.”
