Norway’s low-cost carrier Norwegian recently lowered premium cabin (business class) fares for its winter transatlantic flights services from London Gatwick by up to 30 percent. The airline’s premium fare cuts will be applicable to various U.S. destinations such as Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Oakland, Los Angeles, New York and Boston.
Media reports said that the premium cabin fare cuts would also be applicable on the airline’s new twice-weekly flights to Las Vegas from London Gatwick being launched from October 31, 2016. Apart from this, flights to Puerto Rico being resumed from November 2 this year will also see fare cuts as well.
Norwegian will offer 32 seats in premium cabin (business class) on its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, while it will offer 35 premium cabin seats on Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The customers traveling in premium cabin would be able to check in two free checked bags each weighing 20 kg. Among other facilities offered include priority boarding, lounge access, fast track security, unlimited drinks, meals and luxurious seats with 46-inch legroom.
Bjørn Kjos, Chief Executive of Norwegian, said, “It is a matter of great satisfaction that a large number of business and leisure customers are choosing to fly with Norwegian. The intercontinental routes are particularly witnessing strong passenger demad, which is only growing by the day. The growth is also being seen on the routes between the United States and London Gatwick. The airline is committed to expand further and would be launching flights services to new routes and destinations in future as well.”
Kjos further remarked that Norwegian has taken the delivery of one Boeing 737-800 aircraft in May this year and planning to add 21 aircrafts to its fleet by the end of 2016. The increase in long haul demand has boosted the airline’s prospects and helped it increase its passenger numbers by 11 percent in May this year. The load factor also significantly improved to 88.3 percent, up 3.4 percentage points.
