Customer Care 7 Days A Week

Now, 7 additional weekly flights by Philippine Airlines to Canada

Philippine Airlines recently announced it will now be operating additional flights to Canada. Philippines’ national carrier received a clearance from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) approving seven additional weekly flights it had requested for.

The airline is presently operating 7 weekly flights to Canada. With the launch of 7 additional weekly flights, the total number of flights will now reach 14 flights every week. The airline is serving two key Canadian cities of Toronto and Vancouver.

Wyrlou Samodio, Head of the Legal Division at the Civil Aeronautics Board, said that the airline had applied seeking approval to operate 7 additional flights every week to the two Canadian destinations, which have now been approved.

Philippine Airlines is currently providing daily flights services to Vancouver, with three flights per week continuing on to Toronto. The airline wanted to increase the flight frequencies to Canada because of the growing number of Filipino-Canadians traveling to the Philippines quite often, and also a large number of Filipinos head to Canada.

Apart from this, Philippine Airlines had shown keen interest in providing flights services to many destinations on the U.S. East Coast including Chicago, Florida and New York. The airline’s move came after the restoration of Category 1 status by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The airline is not planning to serve these destinations with nonstop flights, but via Canada.

Samodio said that the Civil Aeronautics Board’s decision to allow Philippine Airlines to operate additional weekly flights will help it further to Canada as well as the United States. This will also enable the airline to compete with other carriers and offer cheap airfares to its customers.

Meanwhile, another Philippine-based leading carrier Cebu Pacific has also been designated at an official Philippine carrier to Canada by the Civil Aeronautics Board. The airline is however yet to be allocated frequencies. Jorenz Tanada, a spokesperson of Cebu Pacific, also acknowledged that the Filipino community in Canada has recorded a tremendous growth over the last 10 years. Tanada expressed happiness that Cebu Pacific has been designated as an official carrier. He assured that the airline will continue to provide low cost services to Filipino traveling to/from Canada.
