On Business triple points promo launched by British Airways

British Airways recently said that the companies agreeing to sign up its On Business scheme will now be able to earn triple points on their first six flights with the airline or on select routes with eligible partner airlines. The small and medium-sized enterprises or SMEs are welcome to join the loyalty program on a complimentary basis. The promotional points and flights will however be available within the first 12 months of signing up.

The companies who spent more on tickets, instead of the distance flown, have been rewarded On Business promo effective from May 27, 2015. The airline had earlier made similar changes to its Executive Club program as well which took effect from April 28 this year.

The business loyalty programs of British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia have been combined under the revamped scheme of On Business promo. Media reports said that On Business members will be able to collect and redeem points on American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia networks, as well as their eligible partners. Those holding BA Executive Club and Iberia Plus loyalty program membership will also continue to earn Avios.

Under the revamped On Business scheme three tiers have been introduced – Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 – and will be based on the amount spent on business class flights each year, rather than distance traveled.

According to media reports, the recent move is being viewed as the one that will see the cost of redeeming points for premium cabins being significantly increased, while in case of redeeming points for non-premium cabins the cost will be lowered.
