Customer Care 7 Days A Week

Orlando hotels focusing more on customers’ health and fitness

Gone are those days when hotels boasted of gym facility, considered sterile by today’s standard, with a reclining bike and two or three treadmills. The customers are increasingly focusing on health and fitness while on a vacation. Hoteliers in Central Florida know this even better now, particularly when their guests are either on a vacation or business trip.

Jeff Swirsky, General Manager of Floridays Resort Orlando, said, “There’s a growing feeling that people are becoming more health-conscious. They are venturing more into fitness lifestyle.” He said that the property, which is located on International Drive, is currently being revamped, and health and wellness programs being expanded to attract customers who want to stay fit whether on a business trip or vacation.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association recently conducted a survey. The study revealed that the health and fitness trend has been gradually gaining pace for the past decade. The most recent survey was conducted in 2014, which covered guest services and popular amenities. More than 9,600 respondents or 84 percent said that they had access to a fitness facility or an on-site exercise room. The numbers are undoubtedly way ahead when compared to 63 percent a decade ago in 2004.

The properties owned by Harris Rosen in Metro Orlando focused majorly on health and fitness. Rosen is himself a fitness freak for more than two decades. The Rosen Shingle Creek property boasts of a lap pool, which he has also been often using to swim his daily 50 laps whenever his local YMCA is closed. Moreover, Rosen has also not been lagging on healthy eating front. He had got “Rosen’s Perfect Pizza” created in collaboration with executive chef Jorge Oliviera, and launched it in 2009. The honey wheat, low-sodium pizza is topped with turkey pepperoni, tomato sauce and low-fat cheese. The specially created pizza by Rosen was very much liked by the people and about 3.2 million slices have till date been sold ever since it first started appearing at his many properties.

Many other hotels and resorts in Orlando have picked up the health and fitness trend. These include B Resort & Spa, and Four Seasons Resort Orlando.
