PEOPLExpress begins New Orleans-Newport News flights from Aug 28

Newly-launched discount carrier PEOPLExpress recently announced it will start its flights services to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport from Virginia’s Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport effective from August 28, 2014. The new PEOPLExpress airline has adopted the name of a discount carrier with similar name in the 1980s.

Media reports said that the airline will start conducting flight operations thrice weekly between New Orleans and Newport News. The reports also said that the airline will also introduce new flights to St. Petersburg in Florida on the same day in August.

To mark the launch of new Newport News-New Orleans service, the airline is offering cheap airfares to its customers starting as low as $119. The customers will however be charged extra fee for in-flight beverage, use of overhead bins and checked luggage.

Earlier, PEOPLExpress launched its inaugural service starting from June 30, 2014. The airline initially started operating flights from Newport News on three routes. With the launch of new flights to New Orleans and St. Petersburg, the airline will expand its services to a total of seven routes.

Mike Morisi, Founder of PEOPLExpress, said that he had previously worked for the old PeoplExpress. He said that his decision in acquiring the same name was perfectly right and simply born out of passion because he loved that company.

Morisi said that his new airline PEOPLExpress will be operating flights with the help of Boeing 737 aircrafts, which was until now operated by Vision Airlines. The aircrafts were being previously flown to Atlanta.
