Philippine Airlines New York flights relaunch brings lower fares

There’s a widespread rejoicing among the Filipinos living on the East Coast of the United States and it has been continuing for the past two months now. Philippine’s national carrier Philippine Airlines has once again relaunched flights to New York from Manila after an 18 year absence.

The airline resumed its flights services on March 15, 2015. Media reports said that the relaunch of flights between Manila and New York has thrilled the Filipinos living in the U.S. They are reveling over the fact that they will now be able to get cheap airfares again with increased competition.

The reports said that the relaunch of the flights to New York by Philippine Airlines has prompted other foreign carriers to significantly lower airfares and enhance connectivity between Philippine and the United States. According to the reports, the flights on Manila-New York route used to cost $1,000 and above in the past, but with growing competition a roundtrip ticket can be booked for $800 or less.

Presently, Manila-New York City route is being served with one-stop service by many international carriers. Some of these leading carriers include Delta Air Lines, Asiana Airlines, Korean Air, Japan Airlines, EVA Air and Cathay Pacific Airways. As soon as these foreign carriers received the news of the relaunch of direct flights by Philippine Airlines they immediately spurred into action and lowered their airfares between February and May 2015. 
 
Though with the increased competition Filipinos are now enjoying with lower airfares, the travel experts have however warned that this is not going to continue in the long term and is unlikely particularly during peak periods.
